Annapurna Circuit Trekking
Annapurna Circuit Trekking
Many trekkers viewing the dawn reflection in the still waters of Fewa Lake on an early morning boat trip, feel challenged and inspired by the distant and pristine peaks. Drawing closer to the peaks on this circuit is particularly satisfying, since you see the mountains from different viewpoints.
You will enter into the heart of the Himalayas, experience a great variety of landscapes with their distinctive agricultural uses and inhabitants, climb up into the austere and often snowy heights of the Thorung La pass, and cross over into another world, with views to the arid lands of upper Mustang in the clearer air. These are some of the features that make the Annapurna circuit one of the great treks of the world.
With the improvement of the access roads, it is now possible to complete the circuit in about 14 days, finishing at Jomsom, though continuing on to Birethanti is highly recommended. The trail winds through the untouched forests surrounding Ghorepani and allows the prospect of the unforgettable dawn view of the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri from Poon Hill.
The altitude of 5416 metres attained at the Thorung La pass means that acclimatization of at least one day is necessary at Manang, with shorter days in the subsequent ascent programmed.
